In Search Of The Sun-Day 5

Today we decided to pack up and ship out of Renmark, South Australia. It’s a lovely caravan park, great for the kids, but the weather hasn’t really been the best since we got here so we haven’t really been able to take full advantage of all the facilities.

The kids just want to swim so we decided to keep heading North. After a well organised and executed pack up (my laminated checklist seems to be working well at this early stage of the trip – see “The Marriage Saver” in Tips and Tricks), we pulled out of the park at about 10:15am. We travelled for most of the day, Caleb happily playing with his toys and Aaron reading the first 140 pages of his new Matthew Reilly book. Ray and I sang along to a mix of Elvis and Kenny Rogers. In the end we were getting song requests from Caleb. : #4 and #11 “Ruby” and “The Coward Of The County”. Aaron was completely silent and I suspect that he slipped his ear phones in a few times along the way.

We decided to pull up for the night at Orroroo. As in “Orroroo” the Aussie slang for “catch ya later”. Not a flash caravan park but cheap at $23 per night for the 4 of us and such lovely owners. Interestingly, the toilets and showers are inside a disused concrete water tank and smell a lot like the cow shed at the Melbourne Agricultural Show. We enjoyed a shower feeling like cow cockeys on an outback farm. Quite an imaginative adventure to start our travels.
