We sold up, packed up and decided to embark on the adventure of our lives. Follow us as we travel around Australia in a caravan.
Today we decided to do a well recommended walk to a waterfall and plunge pool called Maguk. We misinterpreted the map (well I must admit that I did) and didn’t realise that it was over 1km to get there. A 1km walk in through a monsoon forest and over rocks in the dry river bed was a big ask in 39 degree heat. But…when we arrived…wow what a sight for sore eyes.
I had made Ray and Chris promise that they wouldn’t swim there because the tourist book said there was a distinct possibility of crocodiles present. So, they didn’t pack their swimmers or a towel. I was mollified.
When we walked over the last rock hill, imagine our surprise to see quite a lot of people swimming. Some people had even brought their own blow up crocodiles and were lounging around on them in the cool of the water!
Ray and Chris were good sports about it and didn’t say, “I told you so” but I felt so guilty trudging the long hot and dusty trail back with everyone sporting sweat tracks down their fronts and backs! Think I will keep my mouth shut in the future!
We spent another afternoon by the pool and then had what we have come to call a “jigsaw” dinner. A little bit of this, and a little bit of that. It’s amazing what you can rustle together for a presentable meal when the cupboards are just about bare.
Later on, we relaxed around the checker board and got competitive with each other. The horns came out as Aaron conquered all. We never knew he was so capable!
