We sold up, packed up and decided to embark on the adventure of our lives. Follow us as we travel around Australia in a caravan.
Darwin greeted us with a hot and steamy morning. After a walk at 6:30am that lasted an hour, we were up for a lazy morning and so we didn’t start moving until about 11:00am.
We decided to visit Berri Springs. Another natural spring that has a huge reputation for refreshing swimming and great facilities for families. It was about 40km away so we all packed our swimmers and took off.
After a pleasant drive crooning to Lionel Ritchie, we arrived to find that the springs were closed. This happens periodically when it hasn’t rained for a while and the springs haven’t been “flushed” with fast moving water. Either that or the ever present crocodiles have been seen in the waterways. We were assured that it was most likely too much bacteria from still water, but we continued to be on the lookout for crocs all the same while we were looking around. We were all so disappointed and it was way past lunchtime so we drove back to the local shops for a bite to eat and to stock up on a few groceries.
On our way home we tried to buy some alcohol from a drive through and also an independent bottle shop. We were refused at both because we didn’t have a membership. It was back to Liquorland ( which only opens after 2pm each day). Seems as though the issues with locals and alcohol continue even this far north.
While we were at the shops we saw Chris’ double! I took a photo to show him. The bloke looking at the meat in the butchers is NOT Chris but as well as dressing exactly like Chris had today, he walked EXACTLY like him. I was snapping happily (but discreetly) and then saw him pick his nose. Definitely NOT Chris.
Chris spent the night with the sole aim of beating the reigning champion, Aaron, at checkers. He succeeded and went to bed very happy indeed.
