We are loving the “chillaxing” that Darwin promotes. No-one seems to be in a hurry, even those who are quite obviously on their way to work. I suppose the weather makes you slow down to a degree, we have had plenty of lethargic moments since we have been here.
After a morning picking up a few things from the shops we checked out two of the local water parks. The Northern Territory government totally funds the water parks as swimming is not permitted at the beaches due to high crocodile and box jelly fish risks. We assume that there is a big guilt complex because the water parks are absolutely sensational. We hopped from one to the other to while away the afternoon. Each facility is fully manned with life guards, six in attendance at the smallest park. The life guards nearly out numbered the customers. The slides were huge and there were plenty of them. They were like water theme parks with one major advantage: they were totally free. What a bonus! Vicki and I memorized the route there so we can take the kids back next week while the boys are on a fishing charter.
Unfortunately, I left the camera in the car so there are no photos of today. I will be sure to snap some the next time we go.
Ps. I must mention that Vicki and Chris raced each other down the water slide. Vicki beat Chris twice and the debate is still continuing over a re- challenge. We are being continually entertained with their competitiveness. They are so alike and don’t like to be second – in anything!
Vicki’s parting words, “there is always a winner and clearly I was the winner today, people”.
