Red Dog Does Dampier- Day 65

We ventured out to explore the nearby town of Dampier. This town is famous for being the area that the legendary “Red Dog” was originally from. In 1979 he began his journeys around the region. Check it out here if you are interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dog_(film)

Chris was really excited to see the monument dedicated to Red Dog as it is a favourite movie of his. A real Aussie adventure movie that has won some incredible awards.
Dampier is a quiet town with a beautiful outlook over the ocean. The colour of the water is a deep turquoise in and all around the bay. The council has dedicated a lot of time and resources into creating some lovely public spaces for the public and visitors alike to use and we enjoyed our picnic lunch in the park, sitting on a bed of feathery clover.

After exploring the town, we returned to the caravan park to shop, pack up and prepare for a big day of travelling tomorrow. We are heading to Exmouth, 580km away. We will bid Chris and his family farewell in the morning as they explore the area on their own. As we have different arrival plans for Perth, we are on different timelines. We will meet up with them again on December 23rd, unless we run into them again accidentally along the way.
