The Geraldton foreshore is an amazing family space. There are dining options overlooking the beach, an amazing playground, beach volleyball area, exercise stations which include hydraulic equipment, a surf life saving club, yacht club, apartments for accommodation and beautiful green grassy areas for picnics. Apparently, we were told, this whole area was a problem zone with arrests, fights and violence in the past and the Geraldton Shire knew they had to do something about it. There was some resistance to developing the area but we think that it is such an asset to Geraldton and it was packed with families enjoying the beautiful weather. Picture perfect.
We visited St Francis Cathedral, a magnificent piece of architecture completed in 1938. The architect who was responsible for designing it came from Europe and it certainly looks like it. It resembled a lot of the churches we have seen overseas on our travels.
We will stay another night here and hopefully I can find a hairdresser to tame my tresses. I have 3 months worth of regrowth, the majority of which is looking a bit grey. Drastic action is required. Geraldton is certainly charming us so far.
