We were woken with an early morning call from Melbourne with some wonderful news. Shane and Kylie’s baby had finally made his grand entrance into the world. Welcome to “Ryder Kym”. We were so happy to hear the news and teased each other all day with new names. Opa, Grandad, Pops etc. Shane sent a photo which promptly became Ray’s screensaver. He is oh so cute!
A rest day in Geraldton today. I rang a hairdresser and managed to get an appointment.
Caleb’s advent activity today was to decorate Christmas cookies so we spent the early morning up to our elbows in icing sugar.
Ray dropped me at the hairdressers and picked me up a couple of hours later. I felt like a new woman. I really appreciate what hairdressers can achieve with some wrist twisting and tubes of chemicals.
We headed down to the beach after lunch and found a painted lighthouse in the distance. Further along on the foreshore was a “mini me” of a lighthouse. An exact replica in miniature form which was actually a beach shower. Very cute! We attached a Rudolph nose and antlers to the front of the car, Ray and I were more excited about it than Caleb. He had found a friend in the caravan park and nothing much else mattered.
In honour of our new grandson, Ray and I went out to dinner alone. We left Aaron and Caleb to fend for themselves in the caravan. I’m sure they were both as excited to be left alone as we were to be getting out. It was the first time we’ve been alone since we left Melbourne. That’s 82 days! We found a nice little Chinese restaurant just off the foreshore and enjoyed a lovely meal together. Then we drove onto the beach and listened to the waves lapping the shore. Very romantic!
