Traffic Stopping Perth-Day 84

The first thing we noticed as we got closer to Perth was the traffic lights. We haven’t seen any since Darwin. To accompany the lights we also noticed the large volume of traffic. Cars, trucks, motorbikes everywhere. It was to be expected of course, we are just not used to it with almost 3 months of Outback Australia travel and the wide open spaces between each town we have visited. We also found a Myer Department Store! There has been no Myer since leaving Melbourne, I’m excited and shopping anticipation has started to course through my veins.
We set up our van, Chris and Vicki are right near us in the same caravan park, but they were out for the day so we didn’t see them initially. We then made our way into Perth City. It reminds me a lot of Melbourne now and a lot busier than the last time we were here. We surprised Tinie (Ray’s sister) at her work and it was sensational to see her.
Returning to the caravan park we were stuck in PEAK HOUR! Unbelievable. We haven’t seen anything like it in months and if anyone had recorded our conversation in the car they would have thought we had just arrived from another planet!
We put up some lights around the van and a string of lanterns that Jack in my grade gave me as a goodbye gift. I’ve been saving them for the Christmas Season.
Caleb sat at the playground with his eyes set on the entrance gate waiting for Chris and his family to return from their day out. He has really missed Hannah and Harry and it was magical to finally see them all together again. We caught up with Chris and Vicki, comparing our experiences and what we had each done since seeing them last. We now have a few other things to add to our travel list that we didn’t get to see that they did, and vice versa, for our next trip.
It’s good to be in Perth. 5 days til Christmas. I think it’s time to START some Christmas shopping!
