“Hey everyone, it’s my birthday today”. Finally, Caleb’s special day had arrived. He had waited patiently til 6:07am to announce it to us. In our house you get breakfast in bed on your birthday, so Caleb returned to his top bunk in the caravan with his bowl of cereal! He said he felt like the King.
Last night we blew up balloons and put them and happy birthday banners up in the van. Caleb slept through the carry on and when he woke up he was pleasantly surprised.
He declared it no jobs day, and he announced that he got to make all the decisions ! Caleb has been so excited since he realised that Mrs G and Miss H would be here for his birthday. Within minutes of meeting up with them after their trek from Melbourne, he had invited them both to the movies for his birthday. They accepted and so we all found ourselves in Mandurah at the cinemas queueing for tickets to see a movie.
Caleb loves going to the movies and the movie didn’t disappoint us, serving up plenty of funny parts so that Caleb could also entertain us with his trademark animated laughing and giggling throughout it. We watched him more than the screen! He is hilarious!
Caleb clutched the barrel of popcorn and declared it the best birthday he has ever had!
We headed to “Dome” for lunch. Ray is really taken with it and the food is good. Caleb happily played with Emma and his new toys. The eateries in and around Perth don’t have children’s playgrounds. We are told that some suburbs have them, but we are yet to find one. It didn’t matter, Caleb was happy.
Judy and Emma left to drive back to Bunbury and we did the only other thing we could possibly do on Caleb’s birthday. We went toy shopping. Caleb had birthday money and he intended to spend it! Predictably, he purchased a Star Wars light saber! This one is different than all seven others that Caleb owns because it is a double saber as preferred by Darth Maul. I liken Caleb’s need to purchase light sabers with my shoe fetish. To everyone else they all look and do the same thing, but to us they each have different uses for different purposes. See, easily explained!
We returned to the van for an easy dinner and to have the birthday cake. Unfortunately, time got away from us and Caleb fell into bed, still convinced that this was his best birthday ever, even though we forgot to cut his cake.
Highlight of the day was the birthday card Judy and Emma bought Caleb. It farts 10 different sounding farts. Whenever someone passed wind during the day, we matched it up with a number from the farting card. He took it everywhere with him and now it is stuck to the van wall to use as a reference card for the future. I think it will come in very handy!
