On Top of The World at Kings Park -Day 130

Today was Aaron’s last full day with us as a caravaner so we decided to do whatever he wanted to. He had no idea and no preference so that meant I got to choose. I wanted to return to Fremantle for another snoop around the second hand shops and to visit the little wine shop that we found which sold Margaret River clean skins which I had guzzled and now needed more. We don’t have enough room in the van to carry the amount that I wanted to buy but I got enough to last a while at least. We had a sniff around the “Good Sammy’s” op shop, stocking up on books and CDs for the car. I found a great one to annoy the boys with, so for $3 I bought it. I’m looking forward to singing “Torn Between Two Lovers” and “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” all the way home. I could hear the boys complaints already!
Caleb picked up a brand new game of Mousetrap for $3. I have no idea where it will fit in the caravan, but that can be Ray’s job.
We drove to Kings Park, having realised that even with all the time we have spent in Perth we had neglected to go there. It really is a must see on the tourist list and probably one of the first places that you would visit to get a birds eye view of Perth. The view over the Swan River is gorgeous and the memorial to soldiers from each “worldwide conflict” is really well done. We liked how each soldier was personally named and then throughout the park trees had been planted for each one of them. A plaque stands in front of the tree, stating the soldier’s name, age and cause of death. So many were so young.
Caleb decided to see how long he could stand barefoot on the burning hot concrete while we were there. It wasn’t long.

You could easily make a day out at Kings Park, walking, picnicking and appreciating the memorials. The facilities have been very well provided for by the City of Perth. Entry is free and it is open everyday. They have a calendar of events available also. More information can be found here at this dedicated link: https://www.bgpa.wa.gov.au
We returned to the van for an early night. We needed to be awake at 3:30am for Aaron’s drop off at the airport.
