Aaron slept right through his alarm ! His was set for 3am so that he could shower and we were just going to throw some clothes on and go, so our alarms were set for 3:45am. Of course, my ever alert brain was waiting for the alarm to go off so I was on the edge of sleep for a while. I jumped out of bed when I realised I couldn’t hear Aaron clomping around. There he was sleeping like a baby with his phone in his hand. A couple of shoves and he was up and out the door to the shower.
We left the park, being as quiet as we could as noise travels so easily in caravan parks. Unfortunately, it took 3 noisy tries to start the car and then Aaron realised he left his back pack on the chair (OMG!), so we did a circuit of the park, headlights shining through van windows and tents. Cringe!
Aaron was excited, we were sad!
We saw him off. Watching him board the plane without even looking back, we knew that he was going to be okay.
We ventured back to the van and I slid between the still warm sheets. Caleb and Ray stayed upright but I watched the TV from bed.
As the day wore on, we noticed Aaron’s absence more and more. I suppose living in such close quarters for 4 months, it’s bound to happen.
We got word that he had arrived safe and sound in Melbourne and was catching up with friends. Phew!
Caleb especially noticed his brother missing when it came to washing the dishes. It was his turn to step up and help. He was good natured about it although I’m not sure if he realised it wasn’t a one off proposition. Tomorrow night will tell!
