Caleb Banks His Pennies-Day 132

Today is my Nanny’s 90th birthday so I started it with a phone call home. It was lovely to speak to her, she has such an opinion on everything. She said to say hi to “Trouble”, (the big one not the little one) and to tell him to “stop being so bloody cheeky all the time”. She certainly knows Ray well!
We had some paperwork catching up to do and food to buy so we ventured out after lunch.
Ray was impressed with all the markdowns he saw in Big W and wondered why people went overseas to shop when it was so cheap here. I didn’t bother to explain the difference between the brands in Big W and the designer labels in America. (I’m sure he was reflecting on our trip to Hawaii last year and my shopping indulgences).
Ray had a haircut (to straighten up the buzz cut I’ve been giving him with the clippers for the past 4 months), and Caleb opened up his very first bank account with Bank West. He said he was nervous at first but when he got to look over all the paperwork, he looked like a true professional. He then lined up and deposited his $22 into his account. He must have been feeling very grown up because when we left the bank he insisted on carrying not the one bag of shopping that we usually made him carry, but two!

We are feeling Aaron’s absence very much today. It’s unusual being just the three of us instead of four. Aaron was very proficient at doing things around the campsite that just needed to be done that we didn’t have to ask him to do. Whereas Caleb needs direction to do anything beyond looking after his own needs and that of his toys. Kids!
