We spent the day relaxing and finding all the other tourist attractions that we knew were around, but just hadn’t seen yet. The local brothel runs a tour (the brothel is over 100 years old) which is reputedly really worthwhile. Unfortunately, you have to be 18 years old to go on it so we couldn’t. We considered leaving Caleb in the parlour area while we did the tour but considering the brothel was an actual working one (after 6pm), it just didn’t seem right. We knew Caleb would charm the working women with his smile and personality and they wouldn’t get any work done (!)
We often find interesting things to see and particularly like to wander around cemeteries in and around towns. We are not the only ones and often they are full of tourists checking out the history of towns. We saw this gravestone marking the death of a young man who was accidentally shot. This opened a discussion with Caleb regarding gun use and ownership. Interesting.
We stocked up on groceries, not sure what we will find in Esperance tomorrow and tried to find some more books for Caleb to read. We download books onto Caleb’s iPad but there are never enough so we are always on the lookout for new reading material.
We returned to the van and enrolled him in Mathletics so he can continue to use the program while we are on the road. The yearly fee of $99 is more than worth it.
Before dinner we thought we had better achieve something constructive for the day so we pulled on our runners, Caleb jumped on his bike and we went for a walk. We have been really slack lately about exercising but with the really hot weather it’s just impossible to find the energy. Today’s nice change of 29 degrees was much more pleasant for being out in the elements.
Dinner and an early night followed ready for moving on tomorrow.
