Our 200th day on the road! Golly Gosh!
The sun came out in celebration so we did what every other family thought to do today and we went to a theme park! It was the last day of the Queensland school holidays.
As the weather had been so dreadful here we knew the theme parks would be pretty busy. We decided to go to Movie World. Seeing Caleb’s face as we walked in was worth gold. The music playing, all the people, colours and representations of all of his super heroes was enough. Even if we had turned around and left then and there, he would have been talking about it for days.
The lines for each ride were long but Caleb was happy just to see the sights telling me that it was the “best day ever”. There was a ride called the “Scooby Doo Scary House” that we thought should be Caleb’s FIRST roller coaster ride ever. We recalled the hours of indecision at Disneyland Paris that we went through with Aaron (Caleb’s older brother) when he was Caleb’s age, and so decided to avoid it altogether and tell him he HAD to ride it with us. We lined up with Caleb clutching both our hands, giving us a running commentary on how his tummy was feeling and every few minutes we got the declaration, ” I really don’t want to do this.”
We made it through the ride OK but it was a little more “adventurous ” than we had initially thought. I checked that Ray was ok as he’s not a fan of these rides and as far as I can recall that was the one and only roller coaster ride I’ve ever seen Ray on. He was fine.
We headed to the stunt car show. Again, Caleb’s (and Ray’s) face kept me entertained so much so that I didn’t bother watching the show and just took photos of them.
We watched some more people on knuckle whitening rides, Caleb was happy to have his feet on the ground. After an exhausting day we promised ourselves we would come back on our return ticket and do all the things we didn’t get to do today. Movie World is definitely a 2 day event. Perhaps the boys will join me on another roller coaster!
