Fun At The Fete-Day 227

Even though my legs protested, I was up early and pulling on my runners for a walk.

I’m not sure why I hd previously stopped my morning walks because I truly enjoy the time once I’m in the moment. It was a good opportunity to check out the local scenery in the early morning and also a good chance to have a few moments alone and breathe in and appreciate the absolute blessed situation that I find myself in; travelling this magnificent country with the two most entertaining and hilarious guys that I could ask for.

I had a rather embarrassing moment when I pulled on the gate to let myself out of the caravan park. The gate handle didn’t budge, but I did and did one of those backward stumbles nearly landing on my butt.
A closer inspection of the sign on the gate revealed the information that the gate wouldn’t open until 7am. We were all prisoners until then. From 7pm until 7am the gate locks so that all and sundry can’t access the pools and recreation rooms. I hung around the gate and right on 7am when I pulled the handle, I was free!

The beach was spectacular and I got a few snaps before turning back.
When we were coming through Maryborough to Hervey Bay, Ray had noticed that there was a fete for Mothers Day on at the local school today, so that was to be our planned destination. Once he had finished talking to our neighbours (yes, again!) we were able to set off.
The fete was at Grenville State School and the population of the school is about 315 students. They had the usual lucky bags, pirates treasure, hampers and rides. They also had an interesting concept called “Kiss the pig “. There was a real piglet contained in a pen which the “winning” teacher had to kiss. There were 4 buckets being circulated with a photo of each “volunteering” teacher on the front. You could donate as much as you want to try and get your nominated teacher to win. When I asked who they were I was told the Principal, Deputy Principal, Year 6 Teacher and The HOC (Head of Curriculum). We don’t know who won , but looking at the buckets, the Deputy/Assistant Principal looked way in front.

We also noticed a golf game where you could putt the ball onto a shape and win a selection of chocolates or money. We had a go at this but didn’t win. Ray and Caleb enjoyed a sausage and shared a hot dog. I returned to the car where I had my own lunch packed and left them to check out the presents on the table for Mother’s Day.
I sat and ate wondering what was keeping them so long and what they could possibly have seen on the table that they thought might be remotely useful to me in a caravan. Time will tell.
