We realised that we’d like to spend a bit more time in this area but this campground wasn’t the place to do it from.
It’s a lovely outlook and very serene, but lack of clean amenities, drinking water and mobile phone reception, coupled with a top dollar price, made us look elsewhere to spend a week. We have discovered the power of the 7 night stay. You almost always get a discount for staying a week in one place (sometimes you can stay 7 nights for the price of 5) and as everything is so close together on this side of Australia, we can stay in one spot and explore the area on day trips.
We did a bit of research and decided to head just 20 minutes up the road to Landsborough. It is about 20 km from the coast so about a third of the price of the coastal parks. We prefer the quiet of the mountains anyway and plan to do some more scenic walks.
I woke up feeling awful. I had been a bit full of a head cold yesterday but this morning it was body aches, headache and fever. I immediately knew that if it was a work day, I would have called in sick. Ray and Caleb made me comfortable and I rolled over and went back to sleep.
I had to pull myself together and get up and moving because by the time I had woken up again it was nearly 11:00am, way past check out time.
We packed up and left, drove to the next caravan park and then straight to the chemist. While I waited for the tablets to kick in we took a drive into Coloundra and stopped at the foreshore playground. Coloundra is a bustling seaside town. It has a really long Main Street and foreshore boardwalk which will be perfect for exploring when I feel a bit better.
We headed back to the van for a lazy afternoon where I crawled back under the covers and lost myself in a magazine. Roll on tomorrow!
