Big Numbers All Around-Day 222

The weather promised local showers today and a top of only 25 degrees. Brrrr!

We had the car booked in to have a slight leak in the diff (not sure what this is the abbreviation for but it sounds like I know what I’m talking about so…) checked and the mechanic was 4kms away in town. As I was in the middle of a sleep in (again), Ray drove the car down to town and I assumed the mechanic would run him back here.

When Ray got back, he informed me that he had caught the bus back instead and something wonderful had happened. The bus driver asked him if he had any concessions and as Ray has recently received his “National Seniors” card he was able to use it and get the bus trip for $1.60. The National Seniors card is valid once you are 50+ years and gives discounts at all kinds of places. As I am married to a 50+, I automatically get one too! I figured since I am an Oma, this is just the next step. Don’t think I will be flashing my card about the place voluntarily any time soon though!

We stayed near the van while we waited for the car to be fixed and got stuck into some schoolwork. Caleb was pretty keen to do his place value work today as it involved using lollies to illustrate what he needed to understand. He is glad that we get to do some more tomorrow and he clued into the fact that making up sums with bigger numbers meant using more lollies. I think we’ll need to buy some more.
When we got the call that the car was ready Caleb and I decided to wait while Ray picked it up. Instead of getting the bus, Ray jogged the 4kms there. I was pretty impressed as we haven’t been too active lately and we are all feeling a bit worse for wear. I seem to have lost my exercise mojo.

We leave here tomorrow to head to Hervey Bay for a week or two. Perhaps being by the beach will entice us to be a bit more active, but I don’t think this “Senior” will be running 4kms any time soon!
