A Testing Day In Hervey Bay-Day 230

Call us lazy, call us bums, call us whatever you want. The fact remains that we are not actually doing much.

There was drizzle this morning, stopping us from doing our planned family walk and we were actually pleased that we have decided to stay another week in Hervey Bay because packing up all the gear in the drizzle isn’t much fun at all.

We noticed on the news that National Australian school testing, (NAPLAN) was today so I declared that today was Caleb’s testing day too. He took the news really well and was keen to get it done so he could go and play.

He impressed me with what he could do but blamed his pencil on its inability to join the letters in his handwriting sample. He assured me that next time, “it” would do better.

Caleb went and played and I completed some computer stuff that I had been trying to find some time to do for a while now.
After lunch we walked to the shops together and Caleb and I led Ray straight to the Ice Creamery opposite the foreshore. I was estactic to see that they sold my absolute favourite flavoured ice cream, licorice. We have been searching since Sydney to find a shop with this flavour so I couldn’t let the opportunity pass, could I?

Caleb and his mum are sitting outside on a cafe table enjoying liquorice ice cream.
We finally found liquorice ice cream!

We took a look at the beach with our ice creams, browsed the real estate agents windows and were pleasantly surprised at the prices of houses in the area. We saw modern 4 bedroom houses with ensuites and inground pools for around $600k. Amazing!

When we returned from our walk, Caleb asked us to watch him on the giant jumping pillow. It looked like so much fun that we couldn’t resist and Ray and I had a jump too. I did check the rules to make sure there was no age limit, and we were good to jump. I think trampolining is something your body likes when you are younger, but as you get older the insides of your body bash about against the outside of your body. It’s quite an unusual feeling but fun all the same.

Caleb disappeared to the games room and we spent the afternoon watching other families pull their vans into the park and set up their gear. It’s not a bad past time, especially when you’re the one sitting and someone else is doing all the work.
