Passionfruit and Passion-Day 235 & 236

Flea market find – fake eyeballs.

I’ve combined my blog post for the last 2 days. I’m sure that we’ve done nothing worth reading about over the past 48 hours so I took a rest from writing.

Our last 2 days have consisted of a few events. Sunday saw us visiting the local flea market where we bought the most delicious passionfruit that I think I have ever tasted. We got a bag of 12 for $2.50 and I have had to ration myself because I could easily eat them all in one go.

I have read a complete novel (something I thought I would be doing a lot more of before we undertook this trip, but in reality, I just haven’t had..er… time). Caleb can’t accept that I love to sit and read for hours, anymore than he can accept Ray and I kissing in public. We always get a comment about people watching us and a couple of “Yuck and gross” thrown in. He sure is growing up!

I have caught up with some birthday card writing, spent over an hour on the phone talking to my mum (I miss her so much) and we have walked, shopped, bounced, cooked a roast lamb, really talked, went to a vintage car display and been so thankful for this opportunity of time together. I worked out today that we are one week off 8 months into our trip. That means we have 4 months (17 weeks) until we have been gone for our planned 12 months. Wow! Time flies when you are having fun!

We went into the post office today and I held the door open for the courier returning the local school’s student academic NAPLAN tests to the post office. The 6 boxes stacked on top of each other represented a whole lot of hard work and dedication from both teachers and students. I was reminded about what my other colleagues are doing while I am having the trip of a lifetime.

We have whiled away the hours in the afternoons, really enjoying the feeling of being on a seaside holiday. Caleb has loved it too and hasn’t hesitated to meet new kids and join in with their games. We move on tomorrow, the thought of staying another week is tempting but there is still so much to see and do in other places that are beckoning us further up the coast.
