Wet Jocks and Exploring the Rocks-Day 247

A nicer day was forecast so we settled on exploring further north.

We had seen a little township on some signs pointing to Cape Glouchester, so that became today’s destination. It didnt appear in any of the tourist pamphlets we had gathered, so we didnt know what to expect.

Before we left, we got talking to a couple of other campers from Hervey Bay on the way to the showers so we started out quite late. I made a picnic lunch for us to enjoy and off we went.

We followed the signs to Hideaway Bay and easily located the Cape. There are a couple of resorts right on the water and then a dirt 4WD track. Knowing it was unlikely that this track was going to turn out to be as adventurous as yesterday, we headed down it. It was bumpy and had deep crevices but all the head wobbling was worth it. We pulled up in front of a little slice of paradise. It was a small little cove and beach. There were rocks and a beautiful outlook. We were the only ones there for a while so we explored the rocks, shells and water. It was so beautiful and reminded me of my most favourite place we have been to on this trip- Cape Leveque, Western Australia.
We decided to have lunch there and Ray prepared his handline for a spot of fishing. While Ray fished, Caleb climbed the rocks and I looked for shells. It was blissful.

After some time, Ray caught a zebra fish which was so pretty to look at. Very tropical. He didn’t have any other luck unfortunately and ended up with wet jocks for his efforts (I’ll spare you the photos) but he is so sure “his” fish is out there, that we plan to return to Cape Glouchester before we leave the area. Perhaps his luck will change.
