Caleb disappeared!
At about 9am he went to visit the people opposite us, Rita and Dave, at the campground. They are grandparents who travel with a parrot called Henry. Caleb was first attracted to their bird but now instead of talking about the parrot, he comes back from visiting their van talking about Rita and Dave.
We had intended to go into Airlie Beach this morning as there were a few things we needed to do, and then to a beach for some fishing and swimming.
We could hear Caleb chattering away, see him being served orange juice and then hear the laughter as he played Hangman the paper puzzle game, with them. We couldn’t bear to break up the party they seemed to be having! We appreciated the peace and quiet of our camp and enjoyed an uninterrupted conversation or two while he was gone.
Caleb returned at 1pm, around about when we thought he would-it was lunchtime. We unpacked the picnic I had made and ate it. We bundled him into the car before he could disappear again and made it to town. We went searching for some pedometers so that we can use them for some Maths lessons but couldn’t find them anywhere. We had a couple of errands to do and we were able to catch up on a few things. It was too late to visit the beach so we will do it another day, when you are travelling like this, there’s always another day.
We arrived back at camp and before the tyres had even come to a halt, Caleb had jumped out and had disappeared back to our neighbours’ camp again.
They had a campfire burning. Before long he had found himself a pen and paper and was playing hangman again, I’ve never seen him so interested in word games! We joined them for a pre-dinner drink around the fire, it was lovely indeed!
