We were formally invited to morning tea at 10:15am by Aunty Barbara.
Its always BYO coffee and chair. Today there was a treat in store, as Aunty Barbara and Uncle Tony had made vanilla slices as a treat. Two things bothered me about that. One, how on earth did they manage that in a caravan with limited utensils etc. and two, it certainly raised the expectations for cooking/baking in our camp. I have been relying heavily on the “when I have a kitchen again” excuse which had now been totally blown out of the water. Anyway, the vanilla slices were delicious and the recipe shared, and I’ll just keep insisting that my caravan “kitchen” is lacking in other ways. Like, total cooking talent…
Today was MY day! I chose to go to DFO (Direct Factory Outlets) in Cairns. Aunty Barbara warned me that there were numerous vacant shops in the centre, but I also knew the major regular shopping centre (with a Myer department store) was 5 minutes away. Either way I was a winner! With the limited space I have for carrying clothes and shoes, comes the need to wear the same things often. They get very worn and you get sick of seeing yourself in the same thing! I have actually had dreams about my clothes stored at mum and dads being eaten by moths and silverfish. The whole idea fills me with dread.
I got a few bargains at DFO but not enough to sustain me so we went to the shopping centre. Ray and Caleb disappeared for a couple of hours, leaving me to wander and shop in peace. It was nice having some alone time but fashion choices are limited when travelling and I find myself stuck between items I truly love and items that are practical. I got a bit of each, enough to keep me happy for a while
