Caleb Waits, and Waits, and Waits for Company-Day 316

Making sure the car is well maintained is crucial when travelling. Ray booked it in for a service and drove it there at 7:30am. We expected it finished around mid morning so that we could go out and about and do a few things.

When we still hadn’t had a phone call at lunchtime, Ray rang to be told they were busier than expected and it wouldn’t be too much longer. Finally, at 3:40pm, they called to advise it was ready.

We had been hanging around all day, which was a bit of a nuisance but at least I got some more work done.

Caleb has made friends with a boy who lives in a bus in the park here. He had an “appointment” to go to his bus at 4:30pm when Daniel got home from school. Daniel has an Xbox and the Ninja Turtle game.

Just after lunch, Caleb grabbed the clock, sat it on the table in front of him and proceeded to sit and watch the numbers tick over, and over and over.

He wouldn’t listen to reason about how much time he would be sitting there and it took over 40 minutes for him to give up and decide to do something while he waited. He certainly has patience.

Next to us we have some lovely neighbours, Henry and Valmay from Geelong, Victoria and on the other side, Danny and Val from Mooroolbark, Victoria. Both couples have been coming here for 20 years and both couples can talk the ear off a piece of corn. Throw Ray into the mix and sitting outside can become a dangerous place to be if you want a bit of peace and quiet.

Henry has been kind enough to offer us bits and pieces that he has bought since we have been here and in the three days we have scored 3 bananas, 3 mandarins, a rock melon and a Boston bun.

Caravan parks are certainly friendly places to be, the travelling community is out to meet new people as much as it is out to see the sights of Australia.
