Out with the Old, in with the New-Day 320

All good things must come to an end and it was now about that time when the seasonal nomads head back to their respective states and for those that had them, their grandchildren minding duties.

Over the past two mornings we have gathered at 8:00am to farewell Aunty Barbara and Uncle Tony, Geraldine and Duncan and Glynis and Robert. We have had a lovely time getting to know them and having a few laughs together.

The farewell ritual is the same. We gather at 8:00am as the tractor is summoned to extract the caravans from each site. These are then moved to the road where the car is attached. This doesn’t happen at every park but this one offers “valet parking” so that customers don’t have to reverse their vans. Very important for some of the more mature gentlemen who seem to have difficulties with this task.

Ray is adamant that he doesn’t need the tractor and hasn’t requested it yet, nor does he intend to. The others are happy to provide something for the tractor driver, Paul to do.

Once the vans were in the roadway, Caleb and Ray provided valuable assistance to get them hitched, using a variety of (confusing) hand movements to help.

Once the farewells were done with, the park seemed eerily quiet. The sites were settled upon by new travellers later in the afternoon so the tractor got another workout.

Ray got his face on the TV again tonight. He was interviewed at the Masters Games over the weekend and they played it on Channel 7. It was a much edited version and he assured us the best bits were left on the cutting room floor. Poor thing! I took a photo of the TV and he videoed it.

We have another week here while we eagerly wait for our visitors to come. We hope to spend it relaxing and…relaxing…and relaxing. Ahhh.
