What a special joy it is being able to spend time with Shane, Kylie and Ryder. Kylie’s younger sister Jade and her fiancé David are also here and meeting them for the first time has also been lovely. They are well travelled and are on their way home to New Zealand after 5 years abroad, working and exploring. 

We spent the day simply relaxing in the beautiful house and getting to know each other. Ryder is such a gorgeous, happy baby and at 8 months old, so easy to keep entertained. He had us all at his beck and call and his needs were met by all of us at various times. 

We are feeling the special role of being ‘Oma’ and ‘Opa’ for the first time and it is absolutely delicious. 

Shane and Kylie got a very deserved nap in the afternoon, while we chatted a couple of hours away with Jade and David beside the pool. 

The only disappointing part of the day was the weather. It was cloudy but still warm and the girls went for a morning swim in the pool, but no lazing in the sun was possible. 

Once Ryder was asleep for the night, we ate our BBQ dinner on the front deck area, listening to the lapping of the water of the beach which is just over the road, literally a stone’s throw away.
