Shane researched some possible snorkeling expeditions and we settled on a trip to Green Island. Not much into snorkeling myself, I hoped to be able to help with Ryder while the others ‘played’.
The trip to Green Island was interesting and Ryder loved the rolling, surging boat, giggling all the way, while some of us set our gaze on the horizon and determinedly tried to hold onto our breakfast.
It was a perfect day! The sun came out and we all stripped off into our bathers. Even I thought the water was warm enough to swim in and once Caleb got in it, he wouldn’t get out.
We enjoyed the perfect day at the beach, enjoying the company of family and many, many laughs.
David took Caleb exploring in the shallows where they were lucky enough to spot a large turtle. They spent a good couple of hours swimming around with it.
Ryder woke up from his nap and loved splashing in the shallows. He is such a happy baby, always on the go and interested in everything. The water play wore him out quickly and we took him for a walk on the boardwalk for another nap.
Kylie arranged for us to return to the mainland on a later boat as we were all having such a great time.
An ice cream and refreshing beer later and we were enjoying the 50 minute return trip to Cairns, minus the roller coaster experience of this morning! Phew.
We each declared the day an exhausting but huge success!
