A slightly grumpy baby changed our plans of heading off to Port Douglas in the morning. Ryder went back to bed and we all settled around the pool, not at all disappointed at the prospect of relaxing there all day.
After a nap, he was much more agreeable and we decided to continue to recover ourselves and stay at the house. We played on the beach, enjoyed homemade hamburgers a’la Shane on the BBQ, and urged the ‘young ones’ to go out for dinner so we could have our first official babysitting duty.
I read Ryder his favourite book (he was so attentive) and Kylie prepared him for bed before they left for dinner.
Ray and I gathered around the baby monitor, determined to take our job seriously but we needn’t have worried. Ryder slept through the night. This was actually quite fortunate as I was flat out asleep on the couch when they all got home. (I hope it doesn’t affect my future babysitting opportunities!)
We thoroughly enjoyed another lazy day around the pool, and I know I was secretly glad that a grumpy baby changed our original plans.
