No matter what the morning temperature is, Caleb always states that he is cold and needs the heater on. We rarely agree with him, but this morning we did. It was freezing and a sudden reminder of what is to come as we make our way further down the coast. I’m worried!
The van doesn’t take long to warm up, tiny places don’t, and we opened the van door to a spectacularly warm and bright morning. A top of 32 degrees was expected today. We intended to enjoy one of our last truly warm days.
We needed a few things from the shopping centre so headed to Burleigh Heads to pick them up, happy to avoid the bustle of a larger shopping centre. Burleigh Heads is the new place to be on the coast. It has interesting shops, a lovely beach and developed foreshore area.
Russell is at a nearby hospital so we headed there after lunch and had a coffee with him and Noelene. It was so, so good to see him again and celebrate the successes he was having in his rehabilitation.
Travelling offers so much, but truly the most wonderful opportunity it has given us is to meet so many people from such varied walks of life. Russell and Noelene really top the list for us. We don’t think anyone could ever meet two more genuinely nice people if they tried. We will value their friendship and the memories we made together for a long time to come.
We were going to head to the beach in the afternoon but the wind picked up and there wasn’t enough heat in the sun to chase my goosebumps away.
Noelene dropped in for a bowl of pasta on her way back to the caravan park from the hospital. We enjoyed a bottle (or two) of wine and couldn’t believe it when it was suddenly midnight. The evening had gone much too fast!
