The traffic noise from the nearby Bruce Highway was quite loud and seemed to echo around the park where we were camped.
It concerned me for about 15 seconds and then must have lulled me to sleep. I slept deeply until 6:00am when the noise and tooting got much louder. Truck drivers have a peculiar humour, blasting their horns as they drive by. I’m sure they are chuckling to themselves.
We took our time enjoying the peaceful morning before driving the short 10km to the Eumundi Markets. The day was hot, a top of 34 degrees was expected.
We parked, then wandered around the markets picking up a few bits and pieces here and there. If never ceases to amaze me just how creative some people are and we noticed many unique products.
It was well worth our time and we even bought ourselves a souvenir!
We had a hurried lunch in the carpark and then headed down the coast to Surfers Paradise. Caleb recognised the theme parks as we drove by them and I was prepared with the answer to his unasked question. “No we would not be visiting them again”. Surprisingly, he made the comment, ” We can’t go to the theme parks because we don’t have time and we need to get back to Melbourne”. My answer remained unspoken on my lips and I again realised he was actually looking forward to getting home.
We heard a knock on our caravan door later in the evening and opened it to see Noelene standing outside. We met Russell and Noelene in Western Australia at the beginning of our trip and travelled around the same areas at the same time, staying in many of the same places together. They are such a lovely couple and we enjoyed some lovely times with them.
They originate from The Gold Coast (prior to that, Melbourne) and have since returned, having finished their trip around Australia. They have parked their caravan in this park which Noelene is staying in while Russell recovers from some medical issues at the local hospital.
We spent a lovely evening catching up and chatting about the places we have been since we parted company in South Australia.
We made plans to visit Russell tomorrow in hospital and look forward to it.
