Darwin Cools – Day 44

Even with the sweet relief of swimming pools and tropical shade, the heat is becoming oppressive. As beautiful as Darwin and the surrounding area is, we are not sure how we would manage if we were looking to become locals. Being on holidays and being able to rest and recuperate whenever we feel that we need to makes it easier to deal with the heat. We have no idea just how difficult it would be having to push through the heat and humidity and keep going with everyday life.

We decided to spend the day at the local shopping centre to escape the heat. We are all ready to move on to the next exciting place on our around Australia trip and are just passing time until Chris returns and we can leave. What better way to escape the heat than a day of shopping?
We made our own fun while at the shops, trying on boxer shorts and embarrassing Aaron in the lingerie department.
The kids began their wish list for Christmas and by the time we felt ready to venture out into the heat, it was 4:30pm. We had many a conversation about the many free things left in life including air conditioning, sugar in your coffee, napkins and plastic cutlery.
Ray discovered an interesting article in the paper. Take a close look and see if you can appreciate some of the interesting Aboriginal names that they have assumed. We had a good laugh.
